As part of the Georgia 4-H and FFA State Market Goat and Market Lamb Shows, students may choose to submit record books for their animal projects, which are evaluated by a committee, based on accuracy and thoroughness of records, answers to questions about the project, an essay, and supporting materials. All exhibitors must maintain continuous full ownership, possession and provide primary care for their animal project from the time of entry until show day. Through record keeping and documenting their animal projects, exhibitors learn self-motivation, self-esteem and responsibility, while providing youth a knowledge and respect for agriculture and its importance to the community, the state, and to the international economy. The top five placing Record Book submissions will be recognized in October at the beginning of the State Market Goat and Market Lamb Shows in Perry, GA.
